June 10, 2016 – Dinosaurs Week
As we do this week's final Dinosaur march to the tune of Laurie Berkner's "We are the Dinosaur", we revisit our Dinosaur lessons of the week. What a fun time we had learning about the different types of Dinosaurs using the song "Five Big Dinosaurs", reading books like "Dinosaurs!" by Gail Gibbons, learning the letter D, creating a jungle mural all with Dino footprints, putting together our large floor Dinosaur puzzle, and our creative craft projects. We even hatched some Dino eggs :)! Check out some pictures of this week and have a Dino-mite weekend all !!
June 3, 2016 Wild West Week!
Howdy, Partners! This week, we learned all about the Wild West! Our new song "The Little Cowboy" got us moving and shaking! We read stories like Armadillo Rodeo, Yipee-Yay, and Little Red Cowboy Hat. Designing our very own cowboy boots and hat was so much fun! Our sheriff badges were exciting to create after we learned all about sheriffs and what important community helpers they are. We tested our memory and practiced math skills with Wild West matching activities. Learning about life on the range was a good ol' time! Ready to saddle up and move on to the Prehistoric ages...
May 27, 2016 The BUZZ of the week…BEES!
Today we finished up our bee exploration! We learned about the life cycle of a bee with new vocabulary such as "larva" and "pupa". We discussed how bees work together and dance to communicate with each other. Counting honey combs ( while making beehives) and thumb prints (while making bees) was so much fun! The "Hickety Pickety Bumble Bee" song was the hit this week! Everybody got to participate by adding their name to the song each day! And boy, did we read a lot about these buzzing little bugs in books like Bee Dance, Horsefly & Honeybee, Happy Bees, and Inside A Beehive. We also added "bee" to our list of words we can do in sign language!
May 27, 2016 – HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!!
This weekend, take a minute to remember the fallen heroes who lost their lives protecting ours. A heartfelt THANK YOU to each and every one of them! ??❤️????❤️??
May 20, 2016 BUTTERFLIES, BUTTERFLIES, EVERYWHERE…
This week our classes learned all about BUTTERFLIES! They read many stores like The Fuzzy Caterpillar, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and Butterfly, Butterfly. The children enjoyed learning "butterfly" and "caterpillar" in sign language! Throughout the week, their art projects were so colorful and a nice reminder that it is actually Spring (even though the weather doesn't feel that way!). They practiced sequencing and recalling story events, and used their descriptive language skills to describe the different types of butterflies they saw and heard about in each story. Each of them was so excited to learn about the 4 stages of a butterfly and create their very own mini book!
