Summer Camp-Week 1: RED, WHITE & BLUE

We were feeling patriotic, sporting our red, white, and blue attire throughout the week! It's just an amazing feeling to be so proud to be part of the wonderful USA! We discussed the 4th of July holiday, a day to celebrate our beautiful country! We focused on our flag and identified the stars and stripes and what they represent. Some of our classes used clothes pins, pom poms, and paint to recreate our flag. We practiced the Pledge of Allegiance, too! After talking about how our families celebrate the 4th, we made lists that included barbecues, swimming, lots of food, family, and FIREWORKS! To create a 4th of July night sky, we used a dish brush painting technique. What breath taking fireworks in the most vibrant colors we made! Some of us made 3D fireworks with q-tips and paint! We also had our first field trip of the summer to [...]

DONUTS WITH DADS WEEK! – JUNE 17, 2017

Our DONUTS WITH DAD celebration was super sweet! What a fantastic way to spend a little extra special time with our dads! We enjoyed showing our dads all of our classroom activities and centers. It was fun to share our favorite toys with dad and listen to him read some of the books we enjoy most. Our favorite part was when we sang the Father's Day songs we had so eagerly practiced throughout the week! Our dads' smiles were all we needed to let us know they felt special and loved by all we had done! Everyone left with a full belly and an armful of crafts and gifts made especially for them with great big love from their little ones! 💙🍩

FLOWERS WEEK – May 20, 2017

FLOWERS WEEK brought out the gardener and floriculturist in all of us! Every wall, shelf, bulletin board, and bookcase was covered with the most beautiful hand made blooms! From sunflowers hand painted with added sunflower seeds and yarn-spun tulips, to bottle cap printed hyacinths and marshmallow stamped daisies, our classrooms were blossoming with some of our most artistic creations of nature! Several of our books like "From Bulb to Tulip", "That's Not A Daffodil", "Flowers", and "Ava's Poppy" showed detailed photos of real life flowers or colorful illustrations of some of the most popular flowers we so often see. The varieties are endless and the colors are just so vivid and eye-catching! Through some of this week's literature, we learned the parts of a flower and about the care it takes to help flowers grow. Many of us talked about our own gardening traditions at home and how proud we [...]

April 1st, 2017 – SPRING WEEK!!

SPRING WEEK though a bit soggy and chilly outside, was warm and cheery inside our classrooms! Spring has arrived and brought all of the clouds and rain with it! Soon the beauty of spring will be all around us; green grass, bright flowers, warm sun, birds chirping, and children playing outside! Yay! We brainstormed about all of the upcoming activities we will do in the fabulous weather to come. Some of our favorites included riding bikes, flying kites, going to the park, playing soccer and baseball, and having picnics. Sounds like a fun-filled season is upon us! We read "When Spring Comes", "Spring Things", "Surprising Spring", "Splish Splash Spring", and many others. Each of these books discussed the changes occurring this time of year and all the beauty that follows. During creative art, we used bundled q-tips and paint to make life-like cherry blossom trees. Adding scent to our flowers, [...]
