July 18, 2016 – A BUG’S LIFE!

Summer Camp-Week 3: A BUG'S LIFE What a fun fun fun week it has been!!! Upfront alert...a long post and too many pictures on this post...there was just too much going on and pictures were just too good to not post :)! During our Bug's Life Week we learned some amazing facts about many different kind of bugs and it was so cute to listen to the kids say some new vocabulary words like "Thorax", "External skeleton" and "abdomen" :)! Books of the week were "The Very Clumsy Click Beetle", The Very Quiet Cricket", " A Very Busy Spider", "Bugs and Insects", "I Love Bugs" and an audio book "Lea, The Lighting Bug". Singing to the "Firefly song", "Eensy Wensy Spider", "I am a Firefly" and hopping like a grasshopper, were some of the other highlights. Even our infants got into the bugs theme by using their fingers and hands [...]

July 11, 2016 RED, WHITE, AND BLUE!

Summer Camp-Week 2: RED, WHITE & BLUE We celebrated our beautiful country with our Red, White, and Blue theme! We discussed what it means to be patriotic and celebrate Independence Day. We read books like Happy 4th of July Jenny, Hats Off For the Fourth of July, and Red, White, and Boom! We had fun using props to show our love for the USA! We also had red, white, and blue at our sensory table with SPAGHETTI! 🙂 We had our first field trip! We went bowling and boy, did we have a great time! Some of us bowled strikes! The best part was watching the kids cheer each other on! They were so happy for each other with each pin they knocked down! Way to be, kids!!

July 5,2016 WELCOME SUMMER!

Summer Camp-Week 1: WELCOME SUMMER We welcomed summer during our first week of Summer Camp! Water Play days were so much fun! Running through the sprinklers and measuring/pouring at the water table was refreshing in the warm summer sun! Our weekly yoga class began this week. We all picked up the poses and relaxation very quickly. Summer, Duck and Goose Go To The Beach, and Harry By The Sea were just a few of the books we read. Our art this week surely brightens up our classrooms with suns, beach balls, flip flops, and watermelons! Friday was a special treat as it was our first of many "Ice cream/pop Fridays"! We have welcomed new friends to our school as well, and it is so very nice to see so many smiling faces and hear the giggles from each of them while they're having a blast here at Square One! Wishing [...]

June 24, 2016 Our Favorite Things!

We spent a lot of time doing our favorite things on our last week of school! Building, working at the zoo, conquering 100 piece puzzles on our own, painting, reading, practicing writing our names, and working together are definitely some of our favorites! It's wonderful to see how we can all play and work with one another and to watch our friendships grow here at school! Our math skills are increasing each week using number and pattern recognition and we are so impressed with our writing skills as well! Everyone is so excited for Summer Camp and all the fun activities that are planned each week! Congrats to all of our students for a job well done in school!

June 17, 2016 My Daddy, My Hero!

This week's theme was all about DADS! We talked a lot about all of the wonderful things our daddies do with and for us. We read A Father's Day Thank You, Day Out With Daddy, The Daddy Mountain, and When A Dad Says I Love You! Oh, how we love to read!! Our dads are our SUPER HEROES and we talked about their super powers and what makes them so special to us. Daddy's shirts and ties also helped us practice matching and color recognition. At circle time, we proudly showed our class pictures of our dads! After practicing all week, we were ready to sing the Father's Day Song, too! Hoping every dad had a wonderful day on Sunday! Being a dad is a special gift and we all appreciate everything you do!
