FAMILIES WEEK gave us all the opportunity to share about our families and why we love them so very much! We discussed how they are similar and different from our friends’ families. We counted how many family members live in our house (and we were EXCITED to include our furry family members as well!). The Preschool class was eager to share their favorite things to do as a family; going to the park, riding bikes, and going to the beach were just a few of the special things they do together.
We read “The Family Book”, “Franklin’s Big Sister”, “Froggy’s Day with Dad”,and “Are You My Mother”. Story time is always a favorite time of the day, but being able to hear all about mommies, daddies, and siblings made our stories special for the children.
Our Pre K class made family portraits that they later shared with their friends during circle time. They were so proud of their work and so very happy to talk about their loved ones! The Preschoolers constructed replicas of their houses using paper squares, rectangles, triangles, and circles. The infant and toddler classes also brought in family pictures to share and display in their classrooms. Oh, how they just lit up at the sight of their family!
We added the sign for “family” to our ever-growing list of sign language and used our already-mastered signs for Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, and Grandpa while talking about them this week!
On Thursday, we had Back To School Night. What a wonderful evening we had getting to talk more in depth with the parents and proudly showing each of them the hard work that goes on here at school! Thank you to all that attended!
